Conflict in Cameroon: increase number of security forces being killed

Conflict in Cameroon, increase number of security forces being killed draws national attention.
As the conflict in the English-speaking part of Cameroon intensifies taking dangerous twist, the prowess of pro-independent fighters seems to suggest a ready to combat militia. They are popularly known as Amba fighters or Amba Boys.

Operating under one driven ideology which is the restoration of the independence of Southern Cameroons. The said often ”unidentified” restoration forces have succeeded to cause heavy casualties on the part of the Cameroonian regular army.

According to journal du Cameroun the Defense Minister Joseph Beti Assomo while speaking to parliament last week “said at least 120 security officers have been killed in the Anglophone regions by separatists while several others have been kidnapped.

He read out the names of the security forces killed which indicated an increase from the 84 which the Prime Minister, Head of Government Philemon Yang had confirmed in a document last week while unveiling an emergency humanitarian assistance plan”.

It should be noted that as the battle between armed civilians and regular army continues in Cameroon the separatist fighters are somehow changing tactics from guerrilla attacks to open staged battles in villages and towns. This has been the case with recent attacks in Mutengene, Buea, and Ekuna all in the Fako division of the South West region.
